The Chiefs, Elders, Opinion leaders and Elite of Erema Community in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State led by their monarch, HRH Eze Azubuike Georgewill Ill, the Eze Erema-Ukwu of Ogba land at the weekend paid a condolence visit to the family of Late Chief G.U. Ake.
Speaking at the occasion, HRH Eze Georgewill III described the sudden demise of Chief Ake as painful and sad, adding that Ake departed when his (Chief Ake) services are most needed especially at this crucial period of our quest for a dynamic leadership in Egi land and Erema Community.
During the visit the Erema monarch was accompanied by some influential and prominent leaders in the community, namely: HRH Eze Aboyi Akoku, the Eze Ahiahu of Egi land, Chief Johnny Ogbukwu, the Eze Udo of Ogba land, Chief Richard E. Owerre JP,
Eze Alexander Odeyi, the Ochioha 1 of Erema Mr. Moses Umah, alias Lumo.
Others include: Mr. Azunuka Obulor, the Chairman CDC, Mr. Azubuike Singa, Elder Vaine Nwaisu, Hon. Austin Ahiamadu, former chairman ONELGA Council, Mr. Chibuzor Ugwoha, former Managing Director NDDC, Chief Emmanuel Dibia, Mr. Godpower Obulor Ukeh, Elder Oleanya Arugu Obulor, the head of Erema Council of Amalas/Ofor holders and several other personalities, including Comrade Nduka Ekpe who functioned as the MC.
Eze Erema-Ukwu earlier in his speech observed that the death of Chief G.U. Ake was a great loss to the Ake’s family and Erema Community, that Late Chief G.U. Ake is irreplaceable, as the community will continue to remember his contributions to humanity and the development of Erema Community, Egi and Rivers State as a whole.
The monarch stressed that because of the importance of Chief Ake, to the Erema town, he declared seven (7) days mourning for him, pointing out that the vacuum created by the deceased will be too difficult to fill. According to the Erema King, the Community will use the occasion of Ake’s death to foster peace among the people of Erema Community and her neighbours. The monarch prayed that may the soul of the departed Chief Ake rest in bosom of the Lord.
The Eze Erema-Ukwu on behalf of the community applauded the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Chief (Barr.) Nyensom Wike for leading a team of the State Executive Council on a condolence visit to the Ake’s family. Eze Georgewill Ill observed that the Governor’s condolence visit was a great honour to the Ake’s family and Erema Community and uncommon excellent, exemplary leadership qualities exhibited by the Executive Governor of Rivers State, which is worthy of emulation. He said that the community is happy with the Governor and urged the Governor to give Chief Ake a befitting state burial, considering his numerous contributions to the development of Rivers State.
Responding the widow of the deceased, Mrs. Christiana Ake disclosed that it was the wish of her husband that both Egi land and the entire Rivers State live in absolute peace.
Mrs. Ake pleaded with the people of Erema community to embrace peace and show forgiveness for one another, adding that no community develops in the atmosphere of rancor and acrimony.
She urged the youths of Erema Community to direct their energies towards useful ventures for faster development of the community.
Mrs. Ake thanked the people of Erema Community for the visit and assured them that the family will continue to sustain the ideals of their departed father. ###
