The lingering leadership crisis rocking the Kula community in the Akuku-Toru local government Area of Rivers State has taken a fearful dimension as some members of the community have threatened to institute a legal suit against the Amanyanabo of the community, HM King Kroma Eleki Sara.
This was made known when some concerned indigenes of the area numbering over thirty (30) visited our office in Port Harcourt on Monday.
Due to fear of being murdered, the concerned indigenes did not mention their names, alleged that the Amanyanabo is taking the laws into his hands by truncating an existing and well established laws in the community.
According to them the leadership seat of the each of the four (4) major compounds is not permanent, but alternating in every two (2) years among the various families that made up the compounds.
They loudly cried out, lamenting that persons who are on the leadership seats of the various compounds had refused to vacate the position having over stayed their statutorily two (2) years tenure. The concerned Kula indigenes disclosed that these sit tight compound leaders have been on the seat for over six (6) years, which they pointed out was capable of destroying the entire community.
They fingered the community monarch as a brain behind the looming crisis in Kula kingdom. They further blasted one Mr. whoknows Nelson and Mr. Emmanuel Fenny for their dirty deal in keeping the community in perpetual darkness.
They averred that they have already briefed their counsel to do the filings by putting necessary documents together in order to drag the monarch to court.
Meanwhile, the concerned indigenes have warned the Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Dr. John Bazia not to take side in the leadership crisis facing the community.
According to them as far as they are concerned there are no compound leaders in Kula kingdom, alleging that if the Amanyanabo continues with his dictatorial rule, the community will boil.
All efforts to contact King Sara proved abortive. ###
