In support of Wike’s Demolition Of Waterfronts In Port Harcourt

Constitutionally speaking the major function of any responsible government is to protect lives and properties. Any government that cannot protect the lives of its citizenry is not fit to exist.

In Rivers State the rate of crime is high. There is no day passes residents of theState will not witness violence, kidnapping, killings, cultism amongst other social vices.

Several law abiding Rivers citizens have lost their lives to activities of cultism. The state is no longer safe for investors, and it is currently affecting the economic status of the State.

When Governor Nyesom Wike assumed office last May, he met a lot of security challenges. As a man of peace and orderliness, the Governor swung into action and mapped out strategies to flush out the evil doers in the state.

Among all other strategies, Governor Wike is plotting to sanitize the state; we believe that the demolition of the waterfronts in Port Harcourt City and its environs will be more effective in checking the destructive activities of gangsters.

Penultimate week the state government demolished the popular Eagle Island waterfronts. It was a welcome development as far as dislodging of criminal elements is concerned.

We applaud the governor of what he is doing; and also give our support to the demolition of all other waterfronts in the city of Port Harcourt.

The waterfronts are the hideouts of the criminal elements who terrorize the state. We call on Rivers people to see the demolition as a right step in the right direction. Enough is enough. If Wike’s war against crime in Rivers State, will see the light of the day. All waterfronts and criminal hideouts must be demolished. ###
