During the 2015 electioneering campaign, Governor Nyesom Wike did make a promise at Bori to dualize the road that leads to the heart of Ogoni. Indeed, within his one year in office as governor of Rivers state, he flagged off the duality process in April 2016. It was on that premise that Chinese construction firm, the C.N.N.N was mobilized to site to commence the project without delay. The importance of the road cannot be over emphasized. The road was defaced with pot holes which make vehicular movement difficult and life threatening. The contractor has soon commenced work.
It is also revealed that it will take fifteen months to complete the dual-carriage way. And the governor is not resting on his hoarse as he is assiduously monitoring the pace of work. Economically, the road would help to boost the economy of Rivers state when completed. The road would help the farmers for easy transportation of farm produce from rural areas to the city centres. It is worthy to note that the road has link to five local government areas namely: Tai, GoKana, Khana, Andoni and Oporo/Nkoro. And that is why the inhabitants of the beneficial local government should support the contracting firm to expedite action to meet the specification of fifteen months. And desist from any action capable of truncating the project. Previous administrations had refused to award or commenced the project even when there was money in the coffer of government to execute the project.
The governor with sense of good reasoning had magnanimously awarded the project even in the face of dwindling resources. The scarce resources put into the project should not be allowed waste. As government is working hard to fulfill it electioneering promises to the people. That is why the people must eschew inimical act that can frustrate or delay the project.
The Bori, Saakpenwa, Kono road is another strategy or avenue to improve the revenue earning of the rural dwellers in the state. Not only that the road in a way would aid speedy development of the rural communities. As conveying of building materials, goods and services would be done at ease without much difficulty. The award of dual-carriage-way project has a futuristic forsight for development. And that is why every well meaning individual benefiting from the road should support the vision of the Rivers State government led y chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to achieve the yearning of Rivers people. The governor has put everything in place to make sure the road is completed as scheduled.
It is a well development in this dispensation. The benefits of the road are invaluable when one considers the strategic location of the road. Indeed considering the importance of the road politics should be done away with. It is expedient that no better time than now. The critical economy gives room to prudent management to executing life transforming projects in the state.
It is obvious that the Rivers State government led y Chief Barr. Wike is out to develop the state. Indeed the road when completed would also make the people of the areas to have a sense of belonging. Therefore all concerned citizens of the area should not engage in frivolous demands of compensation. If this is done, it would go a long way in helping the contracting firm to deliver the road on time. Indeed, the Saakpenwa, Bori, Kono dual- carriage-way is so important to be abandoned, due to its economic and social importance to the state. It is on this background that the Rivers State government should monitor and fund the contracting firm for prompt completion of the road project. ###
