Unequivocally, residents in Rivers State are living in perpetual fear due to ever increasing rate of cultism. No part of Rivers State where cultism does not exist. The way and manner cultists operate freely in the state it seems cultism had been institutionalized in Rivers State.
And several communities and rural areas were negatively affected. Communities like Tombia, Bukuma, Abua, Okrika, Okuruma, Ke amongst others were badly destroyed.
Due to the increasing wave of cultism, Rivers State is known for its notorious activities. Kidnapping and armed robbing are now part and parcel of life in Rivers State. Infact kidnapping has become a booming business in the state.
It appears criminals have taken over the state, because of their uncontrollable heinous acts.
Penultimate week the Rivers State government under the leadership of Chief Barr. N. E. Wike stood up to face the challenges of the cultists and the criminal elements terrorizing the state.
The governor and the security agents few weeks ago destroyed the hideouts of some notorious criminals in the Rumuolumeni community. Also at the weekend the Wike’s anti-cultism crusade moved to the Eagle Island and demolished criminals, abode in the area. No doubt the governor has declared war against cultism and armed robbery.
I applaud Governor Wike of his unshakable stand against the cultists, because of their satanic activities that have caused untold hardship, on the people of the state.
I hope that Chief N.E. Wike will win the war of eliminating cultism in the state. Therefore, I call on the people of the state to rally round the Governor to succeed by exposing criminals living in their neighbourhood. ###
