Violence, Killings Worry Rivers Dep. Gov.

Deputy-Governor-of-Rivers-State-Dr.-Mrs-Ipalibo-Harry-Banigo-480x330Rivers Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Banigo, on Monday urged the youths to shun cultism and violence to secure their future and the development of the state.

Banigo made the appeal while speaking to newsmen on the recent violent clashes by some suspected cult members in some parts of the state.

She said that indulging in cultism and orchestrating violence in the state would not engender positive development.

“Violence, cultism and criminality can never lead to anything positive; that is the reason we must embrace peace and shun all forms of cult related activities.

“We are witnesses to the loss of lives and property as a result of these issues, and we also have seen destinies being cut short,” she said.

Banigo urged youths to engage themselves in productive ventures.

According to her, it will be difficult for youths to assume leadership roles in future if they fail to engage in meaningful activities.

She condemned the recent cult clashes and the resultant loss of lives and property in some communities in Emohua, Ahoada and Ikwerre Local Government Areas of the state.

Banigo said that the Gov. Nyesom Wike-led government was committed to partnering with security agencies to stamp out insecurity in the state.
