Brown Ideye Seeks RSG Partnership

Super Eagles leaky supportive striker, Brown Ideye is seeking for the support of the Rivers State government under the able leadership of Governor Wike.

The Bonny born super Eagles striker, who just concluded his maiden football tournament on Saturday at the Uniport High Performance football pitch, where A & B academy lifted the maiden edition trophy said, he has in mind to have his own football academy, saying that every two years he will sustain the tournament. He added that if the Rivers State government will understand him, he would not mind co-sponsoring a female version of the tournament.

He also said, he is equally looking forward to other organizations sponsoring the tournament in the near future as to expand the tournament.

Twenty teams in Niger Delta registered for the maiden edition.

He said, his purpose of sponsoring the Brown Ideye challenge 2016 is to give opportunity to youths in the Niger Delta to enjoy playing football for them to make a career of playing football, make money and fame for themselves.

Speaking to sports journalist, he disclosed that, for him, the prize tag money is not an issue, saying that he has planned to sponsor and sustains the tournament every two years because of the battered economic condition of Nigeria.

He expressed satisfaction from what he had seen from the success of the maiden edition, adding that he believes, he is going to have a quality football academy from the players discovered in the tournament.

He said he had spotted some quality players from the final match.

Highlight of the programme was the presentation of medals to deserving winners of the tournament and Mr. and Mrs. Brown Ideye, LOC members and the three best teams alongside other awardees.

A & B Academy was awarded 300,000.00 (three hundred thousand naira cash) medal and the gold trophy as the winner, Garden City pathers went home with the silver trophy and 20,000.00 (two hundred thousand Naira), while garden city soccer Academy went home with N150,000.00 (One hundred and fifty thousand naira as cash prize alongside the Bronze medal as the third place team.

Best behaved team, Rumuowha went home with N20,000 (twenty naira cash), China best defensive player Award, Garden City best goalkeeper award; John Gina – N20,000.00 (twenty thousand naira cash) and he came from A&B Academy, Highest goal scorer award Tamuno Imama Kalio with 6 goals goes home with a pair of football boot and he came from Garden City pathers FC, best player of the tournament came from SKE Academy, Abrahma Deekor, he was awarded with N40,000.00 (forty thousand naira cash).

Apart from the most valuable player each awardees goes home with N20,000.00 while the two finalist teams were provided with a pair of Addidas branded jersey by the sponsor.  ###
