Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has been adjudged the best performing governor in Nigeria.
His Royal Majesty, King Samuel Ndiwe Amaechi, Onye Ishi Agwuru of lgbo Kingdom in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State made the remark while speaking with newsmen on the celebration of Governor Wike’s one year in office over the weekend in Port Harcourt.
King Amaechi who scored Wike’s one year in office high said the former Minister for State Education has made giant strides in critical sectors in the state which according to him, none of his counterparts across the 36 states of the nation can boast of.
“If am to score him, I will score him high. His mark should be over 80% because he has performed creditably well and has recorded these developmental achievements with a very mean allocation.
”Wike is undoubtedly the best performing governor in Nigeria under Buhari, despite the dwindling economy of the country and drop in the state allocation; he has been able to pay salaries of workers in the state up-to-date.
“He was able to clear backlog being owed workers and pensioners including athletes in the state which he inherited from his predecessor.
“Before he came in as governor, both the Rivers state House of Assembly and Judiciary were paralyzed. But immediately he was inaugurated, he sworn-in an Acting Chief Judge of the state as well as Acting President of the Customary Court of Appeal. He also restored the structure of the State Assembly. Today, people are happy because they can get judgment in a short period.
“I don’t see any other governor that has performed more than Governor Wike”. Amaechi who also is the Chairman, lgbo Kingdom Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs in Etche LGA described Wike as an uncommon and detribalized leader that is conversant and familiar with the plight of the people, commended him for giving prior attention and embarking on programmes and projects that have direct bearings on the people’s lives.
The traditional ruler also lauded the governor for the ongoing construction of the lgwuruta-Chokocho road and the proposed Rumukurusi-lgbo Etche road which he said has put smiles on the face of every Etche man.
The monarch, however advised Governor Wike not to rest on his oars but charged him to give more concentration in addressing the security challenges in some parts of the state.
He called on Rivers people to rally round the governor and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the state and prayed that God will give him (Wike) the enablement to finish all that he intends to do for the people. ####
