NDDC Short Change Niger Delta Volunteer Service

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has been accused of short charging it Niger Delta Volunteer Service Youths.

In a release made available to The Newswriter and signed by Offiong O. Ephraim, Director, Youth Sports, Culture and Tourism the sum of Two Hundred and Forty Million Naira (N240,000,000) has been disbursed to settle expenses for the first quarter of 2016 running from January to April 2016 through the managing Director Celtic pride consult event Nig. Ltd.

Consequently, the said amount has not been judiciously paid to the direct providers of the service, the Niger Delta Volunteer Service.

According to the group, the commission is owing them February to date. The groups is requesting that NDDC should pay them directly.

Secondly, the group member said they have filled their foreign training scheme form yet they have not been sent on training while the first batch had been sent since and had almost finished their programmes.

They have been languishing in hunger and suffering; some of them have aged parents who are under their care.

The group is calling on the government to come to their aid as to save them from dying of hungry.

They alleged that the acting managing Director of NDDC, Ibim Semenitari has drawn up another list of APC supporters as to replace them.

According to the group, it is only the governor and well meaning concerned Rivers citizens that could help them out of their current plight.  ###
