We “ll Protect Niger Delta Waterways– Naval Chief

The Flag Officer Commanding the Nigerian Navy Eastern Command Calabar, Real Admiral James Oluwole said his Command will do everything possible to protect the Niger Delta waterways from sea pirates, kidnapping and sea robbery that have made the area unsafe for business transactions and travelers.
The FOC made the remark during his familiarization tour within the unit under his Command at the Nigeria Navy Ship Yard Pathfinder Rumuolumini, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Real Admiral Oluwole maintained that it is the priority of the Nigerian Navy to protest the waterways within the Niger Delta from criminals noting that as professionals they will use professionalism, integrity and teamwork as their core-value to better the lot of Nigerians.
The Navy boss told the officers of the force to be loyal, dedicated and hardworking saying that they should think out of the box while encouraging them particularly the NNS Pathfinder to do everything within their reach to exhibit high standard of unity, professionalism, teamwork and above all safety should be their watchword.
He explained that though, the economic situation in the country is not rosy but they will manage whatever resources given to them judiciously for maximum utilization and excellence.
Explaining further, the Navy boss said he believes in the rule of law “ I want you to respect the rule of law, be disciplined and conduct yourself properly and be more vigilant, have zero tolerance for criminality” he stated.
The FOC tasked the Navy officers to ensure protection of life and property by ensuring that our maritime environment is in order based on our core-value, which are professionalism, integrity and teamwork while charging them to be more vigilant in the discharge of their duty.
“It is better for you to overdo them underdo, let us put extra time to overdo” he stated.
On the issue of welfare, Real Admiral Oluwole stated that the Federal government is trying their best to ensure that adequate attention to enable them discharge their duties, saying the government has put in necessary plan to buy more boats and to train and retrain officers so that they can upgrade themselves.
The Naval boss, said sports is one of the critical areas the Command will take seriously and other competitions so to reawake the physical and spiritual consciousness of officers while admonishing them to take God first in all their undertaken especially prayers before and after any operation, according to him without God what is the profit of any officer if he or she acquire the material things without God, and lose his or her soul. ###
