Hoodlums suspected to be youths from Andoni community in Rivers State on Tuesday attacked a commercial boat along the Ererekiri creek near Bonny. The boats which contained traders from Bonny was heading towards Kaa market via Nunabie when the ugly incident occurred.
Information had it that during the attack, the criminals from the Andoni shot and killed two female traders from Bonny and wounded five (5) other passengers.
As at the time of filing in this report the driver of the boat, Mr. Daniel O. receiving treatment at Kaa General Hospital.
Speaking to our correspondent, the Beach Master Kaa Speedboat Union, Mr. Halliday alleged that the Andoni criminals always attack traders on market days.
He called for security surveillance within the area to ensure safety of lives and properties.
Also speaking Mr. Thompson Jeeky Green, the General Beach Master and Boat Owners appealed to federal, state and the local governments to come to their aid, “since pirates have turned Bonny river to their fishing ground and thereby kill innocent citizens at will”.
He urged the authorities of the Andoni LGA to clamp down on criminal minded youths in order to avoid creating inter-communal war.
The names of the victims are Rose Ezekiel Hart and Blessing Agi Ochom.
Their families members who spoke to this weekly described their death as unfortunate and painful, according them they are the bread winners of their families. ###
