Cultism is gradually resurfacing in Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), the state owned higher institution of learning.
Some students The Newswriter spoke to particularly, identified as Chinedu and Chimezie debunked the earlier claims of the Vice Chancellor of RSUST that there was no cultism in the institution since his assumption in office August 2015.
According to the students there is still cultism in RSUST, saying that the only Vice Chancellor who tackled cultism and succeeded was the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Barineme Bekee Fakae who they said reduced cultism to the barest minimum in the institution, adding that since the taking over of Prof. Blessing Didia from Prof. Barineme Bekee Fakae, cultism has bounced back in Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST).
The students applauded the former V.C Prof B.B. Fakae for tackling cultism to it logical conclusion thereby creating an enabling environment for students to face their studies with utmost concentration and seriousness, stressing that now that the cultist activities have resurfaced, they are calling on the Rivers State government to put measures in place to curb the ugly menace before it becomes a monster so difficult to handle. ###
