ISSUES ABATTOIR: Shunning The Trigger

obuahTwo important key words, “Shunning and Trigger” constitutes this episode of the Issues Abattoir for obvious reasons as the nation Nigeria and indeed the oil giant Rivers State boils on regular basis occasioned on incessant killings via the use of the long mechanically made iron called gun or arm.

In the earlier centuries just to mention most recent time the 18th to 19th centuries, friends or age mates do exercised their strength by physical fight of fist blows that ended at most with common injuries like bruises or dislocation of joints and such may take some months to heal.

On the contrary, the 21st century differences amongst age mates, clubs, political enemies sadly results to killings of the creatures of the Almighty God not by mistake or what could be interpreted as manslaughter but killing otherwise called murder and one of the many questions is, when would people desist from committing murder and go for father?

However, before delving into the subject matter it is appropriate that the key words are defined for proper understanding.

Shun, according to the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary simply denotes “to avoid somebody or something.

Trigger according to the English Dictionary is also simply defined as “a finger-operated lever used to fore a gun and “The part of a gun that you press in order to fire it” as defined by the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary.

Essentially, these key words are intertwined since there uses are common. Triggers on its own could not be pulled or pressed without any action by any finger, hence when it is deliberately overlooked without operation, then the verb “shun or shunning” is achieved in this context.

In this same century under review, many lives were loss through the barrel either by the security agents or cultists at different occasions in Nigeria and Rivers State premised on struggle for cult supremacy in their respective rights or show of power by the security operatives.

Recently, on February Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd the military operations in Yeghe sharply reminded the people of Ogoni ethnic nationality of their dark days when the Late Sani Abacha junta used intimation, harassment, torture, extortion and rape to silence the voice of freedom and liberation.

Similarly, on Saturday February 27th, the people of Unyengala Doni-Town and Oyorokoto fidshing village in the Andoni Local Government in the Obolo ethnic nationality were engulfed in fears as their innocent citizens were murdered through the barrel of the gun.

Before the Ogoni and Andoni killings the Orashi region in the state were mercilessly facing serious killings which was generally attributed to cult related activities.

The Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area were deserted by some citizens for fears of the unknown. While peace and normalcy were gradually returning to the area following the official visit of the governor of the state. His Excellency, chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, the ward 4 chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the area and his family were killed in their home. A situation that baffled everybody that both the PDP and APC condemned and insisted and prevail on the police to unearth the perpetrators.

Sunday 6th March, 2016 generally celebrated worldwide as Mother’s Day through Tuesday 8th March turned the era of violence and killings in the Kalabari ethnic region. The Caretaker Chairman of Asari-Toru LGA, Amb. Jackrich was pained when his lovely mother was kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Thereafter, eruptionof violence in other parts of the kingdom as killings resumed.

Every death of a human being even that of a juvenile is painful and must not be taken lightly even the kidnapping of a being because they are barbaric, senseless, uncivilized and condemnable in its entirety.

The many cases of these barbaric activities perpetrated by the use of the gun through the pulling, pressing or moving of the trigger is alarming, worrisome and has degraded our state amongst the comity of states against what her original status represent.

Sadly, human beings are being killed like the fowl which could never be termed as an ordinary creature because of its value to mankind.

Who would believe reports of Issues Abattoir but it is an injunction given by God Himself against the killings of any sort.

In the second book of Moses called Exodus chapter 20:13, the Bible is explicit and precise when it says “Thou shalt not kill” (KJV).

Issues Abattoir however, joins other well meaning citizens of the State and Nigerians to plead with whoever or those perpetrating this heinous crime to heed the Biblical injunction and allow peace to reign supreme in the state.

To discontinue this act implies a deliberate avoidance of the use of the triggers by any individual irrespective of the circumstances that may arise. Such things that may cause provocation must be overlooked or jettisoned to allow for peace other than taking human lives.

To avoid pulling the trigger by anyone already immerse in it indicates a sincere stand for peace, forgiveness and overlooking to usher in peace even at the highest level of seeming provocation by an offender.

Let everyone considers the precious lives of his/her fellow citizen and resist the temptation of kidnapping him/her for quick money or killing as pay back.

The lives of every individual is protected by God Himself, therefore, those who parades with either voluntary or paid gunmen must cease forth with the practice since only God can give and take live.

According to the immediate past President of Nigeria, No political ambition of anyone is worth the blood of any citizen.

This mindset should be inculcated by all Politicians, Cultists, Civilians, Military, other security agencies and the general populace. ###
