Supreme Court Judgment: I Prefer To Fail Than Wike – Ibani

The former speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ikunyi-Owaji Ibani has said that rather than him winning at the elections petitions tribunals, he preferred the governor of the state, Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, to win while he Ibani fails explaining that the governor’s umbrella is bigger enough to accommodate all including himself as his could not contain the governor.
The Rt. Hon. Ikunyi-Owaji Ibani came up with this assertion while in a thanksgiving service organized by the wards 10 and 11 chapters of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ataba, PDP in Ataba kingdom in the Andoni LGA held at the St. James’ Anglican Church Parish, on Sunday 31st January, 2016 to appreciate God for the victory granted to Governor Wike.
Speaking further at the thanksgiving service, the former speaker who confessed the deepening and growth of his faith in the Lord maintained that he has come to understand that God never disappoint anyone who trusts in Him, adding that the judgment is from God and not man.
The visibly excited former speaker used the occasion to call for prayers for the peace of Rivers State especially during the schedule re-run elections.
Meanwhile, the vicar of St. James Church, Ataba parish, Rev. Canon Ataisi J. Oyet while cautioning the people to be mindful of their utterances and how they use their tongues to avoid trouble, pleaded with the former speaker to carry everyone along in the scheme of things to enable him succeed.
Canon Oyet, while enjoining the former speaker to engage indigenes in meaningful employment opportunities, prophesied that whatever is the expectation of the former speaker shall be achieved and called on all electorate to conduct themselves peacefully during he re-run elections as they cast their votes in a peaceful manner devoid of rancour.
Earlier, in his sermon at the service the Rev. O. G. John-Africa posited that God is the all knowing who sees all the activities of mankind and as well rewards all accordingly.
Speaking on the topic, “What We Will Do To Please God” taking from Psalm 139, Rev. John-Africa pointed out that one’s reward is either commendation or condemnation, arguing that worshiping God, loving one another, seeking God’s glory, serving others with our gifts and telling others about God amongst other things are expectations and criteria for pleasing God.
The wards 10 and 11 PDP rally in Ataba witnessed large defection from the opposition APC back to the PDP. ###
