On Political Decampees
Every game has its rules and regulations. For the game to be played orderly, the rules must be obeyed without an excuse. Thus politics is like a game that has laid down principles that should be followed. Even registration and joining of a political party must have some laws that will guide members. Staunchly adhering to these rules will in no doubt ensure decorum in playing the game of politics.
In the past few weeks there are twists in Rivers politics as politicians are defecting to one registered political party or the other.
The ever increasing defection has shown the low mentality of our politicians. Parties have ideologies and manifestoes, hence it is expected that, as a politician, before you join a political party you must imbibe its ideologies or manifesto.
But the way and the manner in which politicians are roaming about from one party to the other has made nonsense of the party system. Politicians are the problems of Rivers State because of their selfish gain; they want to destroy the developmental process of the state. A politician who defects from one party to the other does not do his or her society any good.
For our democratic structures to be strong and firm, politicians should play politics in a decent manner.
The posterity will blame the politicians, especially those unsteady ones that behaviour like prostitutes, harlots and evil spirits without abode if anything happens to our democracy. ###
