2016 Budget, Biafra, Resource Control, Soberekon Speaks

Foremost Niger Delta agitator, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Delta, and a worried Ijaw Son, Rev. Sokari Soberekon has expressed genuine concern over the Buhari led Federal Government to borrow funds, to sponsor the 2016 budget.
In a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, the former wrestler now man of God, described the decision of the government to borrow money to finance the 2016 budget as madness and dangerous to the people of the Niger Delta.
Soberekoin argued that if the region could not be taken care of during the oil boom, when its resources were used to develop Lagos and Abuja and other parts of Nigeria is it now that the government is borrowing that the region would be developed?
“If the system has failed to use our God given resources to develop us as a region, how then should we believe that, that same system would borrow and develop us”, strongman Sokari argued.
He therefore advocated for a resources control or 50% derivation tax fee for the people of the region, saying that the region can still manage to stay with the entity called Nigeria and, in the contrary, all component units or federating units should be allowed to go their separate ways with assets and liabilities of the country shared amongst various components.
He noted that the hundred years amalgamation of Nigeria by Lord Lugard was over, hence the agreement that binds us together had expired, while calling on the federal government to grant the people of Biafra their request as the Niger Delta people are also ready to go their separate way too.
He called in the Federal Government to stop harassing Nnamdi Kanu and his supporters while calling for his unconditional release from incarceration.
The Niger Delta strongman further called on the Government to organize a referendum to determine the future of Nigeria and urged the Radio Biafra Director, Nnamdi Kanu stop his war monger broadcasting as the country cannot afford another civil war.
He recalled that Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo the leader of the Yorubas had earlier said that if the East go, the west will also go which means that various regions in the country are willing to go but only waiting for the hundred years of amalgamation to elapse.
“Therefore nobody should force any one to stay within Nigeria against their will”, Sokari added.
Rev. Soberekon who belongs to the Jesus Party said he would continue to speak for the oppressed people of the Niger Delta whenever the need arises, saying he would never join any Political Party as Buhari borrow money to pick up INEC Form, borrow to stand election and now borrowing to make his budget, saying that Late Isaac Boro did not borrow to better the Niger Delta Freedom, borrowing is not good for the Ijaws. #####
