The National President of Artisan Fishermen Association of Nigeria (ARFAN), Bishop Dr. Godknows M. Nifeipiri said that his association has concluded plans to organize a programme tagged capture Fish Methodogical Festival in Rivers State.
Bishop Nifeipiri who disclosed this during an exclusive chat with our correspondent in his office in Port Harcourt on Monday, said that the planned festival will attract tourists to the state, thereby generate money to the Rivers State Government.
The ARFAN boss averred that during the festival, fishing equipment and implements would be show cased. He likened the planned Capture Fish Methodogical Festival to that of Argangu fishing festival in Kebbi State.
According to the cleric, the festival will be an annual programme, expressing optimism that it will create tourism in the state. Bishop Nifeipiri did not tell our correspondent when the festival is coming up, but revealed that in no distant time the Capture Fish Methodogical Festival will be organized in the state.
The ARFAN Boss who had earlier applauded Governor Nyesom Wike’s policy(ies) on agriculture, identified funds, politics, lack of adequate data bank amongst others as problems facing farmers in the state.
Bishop Nifeipiri condemned the sale of land to no farmers to build houses, said if not properly checked will ignite shortage of food supply. He advised government to recognize farmers to give them their rightful position in the state. ###
