The much talked about Henry Kalio swan 5-Aside soccer competition among media houses kick-off on Wednesday 16th December, 2015 at Sharks Stadium.
Nine teams are participating in the competition which is expected to last Friday.
In the opening match, Tide/Independent Monitor team beats Wave FM (91.7) 5-2. Garden City Radio beats Cool/Wazobia team 5-0.
In the 3rd match RSTV lose Today FM by 3-0, Rhythm was defeated by Treasure (98.5) 4-2.
It will be the turn of wave FM verse Garden City Radio, Tide/Independent Monitor verse Cool/Wazobia, RSTV/Radio verse Rhythm FM.
Today FM verse Treasure tomorrow being Thursday 17th December, 2015.
Speaking to The Newswriter sports, chairman of Nigeria Union of journalists, Rivers State Council, Ayo Tamuno said SWAN has done well in immortalizing Henry Kalio with soccer trophy, pointing out that Henry Kalio does the business of sports writing with expertise urging other sports journalists to emulate the spirit of Henry Kalio.
He also said, he is happy to see sports writers sweating it out in the pitch just as they talk and write, criticized on radio, TV and prints.
“My advice to sports writers is, as it is not easy being practically in the field and mere talking and criticizing on radio and TV.
Sports writers should know that the people playing to represent the country are human beings like themselves, hence are prone to mistakes, just as it is not easy for most of the sports writers practically on the pitch.
They should take it easy with the players representing the country when they make mistake.###
