Following the secret planned installation of one Captain Ibani I. Braide (Rtd) as the Head of Odum Royal House, Bakana in the Degema Local Government Area by the Amanyanabo of Kalabari Kingdom, HM King (Prof.) T.J.T Princewill Amachree XI, the entire members of Odum House have sent a passionate appeal to the Kalabari monarch not to do anything that would ignite crisis in the area.
According to the family members the king Odum stool is not vacant and is currently occupied by HRH O.O. Odum VIII, adding that any attempt to impose a ‘stranger’ on that stool would not go down well with the people of Bakana.
The family members pleaded with the Kalabari monarch to desist from such plan if he has the intention to do so; if not the Bakana community will boil. They alleged that Captain Ibani Braide (rtd) is a dismissed chief, recalling that sometime ago he has been installed a Chief in Bakana, by HRH O. O. Odum VIII, the Amanyanabo of Bakana, but was later dismissed from the Chiefs’ Council due to certain behaviour he exhibited.
When our reporter contacted the Bakana Monarch, HRH Odum VIII in the issue, he said that he had a court judgment that enthroned him as the authentic Amanyanabo of Bakana in 2002.
The Royal father said that all efforts by his opponents to remove him from the respected Odum kingship stool failed, because they could not adequately prove their claims in court. The Bakana king emphatically stated that his throne is not vacant, and nobody can threatening him, alleging that no member of Odum family opposed him when he was in court fighting to establish the Odum dynasty.
HRH Odum VIII expressed optimism that at the appropriate time the government of Rivers State will recognize the stool.
He called on the sons and daughters of Odum and the people of Bakana to be calm, stating that in no distant time everything will be normalize and the community will begin to develop.
The paramount ruler had earlier appealed to Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to ensure adequate security in Bakana Community and wished him happy birthday celebration. ###
