I abhor lawlessness and I love democracy. I loathe military administration and I cherish democratic governance. In military government exercise of fundamental human rights are restricted, while democracy advocates total freedom and liberty. Democracy brings development in all ramifications.
In a democratic setting freedom of peaceful gathering is allowed, provided it will not ignite crisis in the society.
On Monday, the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, organized what its calls “Black Monday” to mourn its members who died in electoral violence during the 2015 general elections in the state.
In my thinking the said rally is unecessary at this time when states and nations are searching for peace and stability.
The aim of the APC’s Monday rally was an attempt to cause disorderliness in the state. There is every tendency for criminals to take advantage of the APC’s rally to loot people’s property and make the state ungovernable.
Organizing a funeral procession for the imaginary members of Rivers APC that died in the general elections is not the best at this time. When public office holders are busy initiating policies that will put smiles on the faces of their people.
Nobody organizes a black day rally when four (4) youth corpers and several others died when Mohammadu Buhari lost election in 2011.
So many persons were killed when Buhari’s CPC lost its presidential bid to Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in the year 2011.
As an Editor-In-Chief in The Hardtruth Newspaper then, I wrote on my column, “Why the souls of the four (4) youth corpers crying to heaven, Buhari was busy complaining that he has lost an election”. The APC’s black day rally in Rivers State was a satanic platform to disorganize the administration of Nyesom Wike. Thank God that the governor is in control.
Rivers APC should go to the north and organize a black day rally for the victims of Boko Haram, the Islamic killer sect. Dakuku and his people should match down to Abuja, the nation capital territory to organize a black day rally for the unemployed youths, scarcity of fuel and other negative activities of “change” that bringing hardship to Nigerians.
APC members should stop distracting Governor Nyesom Wike from the good things is doing for the Rivers people.
Wike has provided the Rivers people the dividends of democracy. The “negative change agents” should leave Governor Nyesom wike alone. ###
