On Monday the Kula Community in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area was on fire when over two hundred (200) cultists stormed the area and unleashed mayhem on the perceived enemies of Mr. Hope Dan and his brother, Kenneth Dan. Information had it that three (3) persons are now missing and scores of residents wounded during the operation. Briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, the Kula Community Youths who spoke through their leader, Comrade Glad Ibigoni said that trouble started when the two brothers; Hope Dan and Kenneth Dan opposed the executive members appointed by the Amanyanabo of Kula Kingdom, HM King Dr. Kroma Amabibi Eleki, Sara XIV to oversee the satellite communities in the Kingdom. Comrade Ibigoni noted that the two brothers are causing a lot of crisis in the area, adding that Hope and Kenneth are major problems the Kula community is facing. The Kula youths alleged that the attack was led by Kenneth, who brought in over two hundred (200) cultists who are not indigenes of the community to cause mayhem in the town. Comrade Ibigoni further alleged that the 200 cultists who invaded the community were given N10, 000 each to carry out their dangerous acts. According to him, the attack was also carried out in presence of the soldiers stationed in the area. The Kula youths accused the soldiers of collaborating with the two brothers, (Hope and Kenneth) to foment crisis in the area. “Infact to confirm what I’m saying, Mr. Kenneth Dan is always boasting that they have settled all the soldiers in the community,” Comrade Ibigoni alleged. He had earlier told newsmen that, when the Amanyanabo appointed the Exco, the soldiers prevented them from functioning within the jurisdiction or the area especially at the Ekulama II (Freetown). “I want to ask a question. The soldiers are they there to protect companies facilities or to support Hope and Kenneth Dan against the community? Comrade Ibigoni asked rhetorically. He also recalled that there was a time the Amanyanabo summoned the people of the town for a meeting, but the Brigade Commander issued a contrary order and said that Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike directed him to prevent the meeting from holding. And behold the meeting was cancelled. “Infact we are calling on the relevant authorities to withdraw the soldiers and post new set of officers, because the old ones have been compromised,” Comrade Ibigoni said. He disclosed that currently there are gunboats in the area, protecting the two brothers and their boys so that they can perform their heinous acts. “Kenneth is going about telling people that, he has the backing of the governor, therefore nobody can touch him and his brothers,” Comrade Ibigoni further alleged. The Kula youths warned Hope to stop insulting the Amanyanabo by parading himself as the Amanyanabo of Opukula, adding that, “Hope has never been installed as a chief in Kula Kingdom. He is an ordinary citizen of the place, let him stop causing problems in the area. He is a confusionist and a deceiver? The Kula youths pointed out clearly that the entire community has lost confidence on the soldiers, because of the partial roles they are playing in the area. “Why are we saying so? It is because, there was a time the Brigade Commander called the Amanyanabo and directed him to retrieve the Exco he (king) appointed. What is the secret behind such directive? The Kula youths asked. They maintained that the soldiers are always violating the decisions of the King, which according to the youths is not healthy for the peaceful development of the community. The youths, however indicted one Major Mustapha Operation Commander for the wrong roles he has been playing to put the community into crisis. The youths called on the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari to intervene quickly so as to avert crisis in the area. All efforts to contact Hope and Kenneth fails as their mobile phones were switched-off.
