Editorial: Commiserating With The People Of Kogi State

Last Saturday the people of Kogi State went to the poll to elect a governor that will control the affairs of the state in the next four (4) years.
In the said gubernatorial election there are two major actors namely the incumbent governor Idris Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Prince Abubakar Audu of the All Progressives Party (APC).
The APC’s candidate was already in the driver’s seat coasting home to victory, having cast his vote 24 hours earlier, on the day of the election, November 22, 2015.
On Sunday evening a day dark painful script which no one could have predicted played out. The APC’s candidate, Prince Audu died in a mysterious manner. Audu was a courageous politician who had governed the Kogi twice. First was between 1992 and 1993 on the platform of the defunct National Republican Convention, NRC and later staged a come back between 1999 and 2003 on the platform on the defunct All Peoples Party (APP).
No doubt Audu performed creditably while in office as an executive Governor of Kogi State.
His administration was credited with several achievements and he was adjuged the best governor during the 1999-2003 tenure after a nationwide media tour organized by the Ministry of Information and the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Late Prince Audu was a big asset to Kogi State particular, but Nigeria as a whole. He passed on when Nigerians are searching for great leaders that will salvage the country from economic mess and stagnation.
At this moment of grief, we show our deep felt sympathy and condolence. May the good Lord grant the people of Kogi state the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and grant his soul eternal rest in His bossom. ###
