Rivers APC: 50,000 Members To Defect If …

If the information reaching our newsroom is anything to go by then in no distant time, there will be a twist in the political development of Rivers State. On Monday at about 11.00am no fewer than ten (10) aggrieved chieftains of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC stormed The Newswriter’s office to express their grievances on the way and the manner in which the party leadership is running the affairs of the APC in the state. According to them they are not comfortable with the attitude of most leaders of the party, describing it as an act of greed and insensitivity to the growth of the State.
Speaking through their spokesman, Hon. Adonye Ekine said that beside the obnoxious leadership style of Chief Davies Ikanya, they are not happy with the administration of President Mohammadu Buhari. They observed that Buhari’s regime is slow and weak in action in terms of implementation of policy (ies) that will rejuvenate the domestic economy.
Hon. Ekine noted that since Buhari took over power they are yet to see the desired change(s), adding that the president has disappointed the people of Nigeria.
The aggrieved Rivers APC chieftains pointed out sadly that Buhari’s administration has not impacted positively on lives of the masses.
The spokesman informed our political correspondent that about fifty thousand (50,000) members of APC in Rivers State have concluded plans to dump the party if the president refuses to bring the desirable changes in the country.
Hon. Ekine alleged that some members of the party have shown remorse for voting Mohammadu Buhari on the March 28, 2015 presidential election.
His words, “We did not know that Buhari will not perform. We cannot afford to stay in a party where nothing is happening. We will defect to PDP if Buhari fails to correct his lapses”.
Earlier, Hon. Ekine appealed to President Buhari to borrow a leave from Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and start developing the country.
The party chieftains expressed surprise that six (6) months after taking over power from ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, the APC government is yet to satisfy the yearning and the aspirations of the citizenry.
“Such a government cannot take the nation into the promised Land. It takes the President months to inaugurate his cabinet.
“We doubt if the Buhari government will usher in the expected changes we are hoping to see in the country”, Hon. Ekine concluded. ###
