A lecturer in the department of management sciences of the University of Port Harcourt, Dr Iba Lebari, have been reportedly kidnapped in the state on his way home after work.
The Uniport lecturer was said to have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen at the close of work.
Since the abduction on Monday, the whereabouts of the victim remained unknown.
The management of the University of Port Harcourt in a reaction condemned the kidnap of Lebari and called for his unconditional release.
In a statement issued by the deputy registrar on behalf of the institution, Williams Wodi said the kidnapped lecturer had some medical issues that needed regular medication and should not be in solitary confinement.
As at the time of filing this report, it was not clear whether the Rivers police command had made any official statements over the two abductions.
It would be recalled that the state governor, Nyesom Wike, threatened that he will personally hand in any of his political appointees that is found to be engaging in acts of corruption while in office and that he would personally hand them over to the anti-corruption enforcement agencies.
