PH: Biafrans, North Resident, Security Agent Clash

Commercial activities were paralyzed as combined security agents, Hausas on Tuesday clashed with the pro-Biafrans protesters along Emenike/Kampala axis of Mile 2 in Port Harcourt City following their demand for the release of their leaders and director of Radio Biafran, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu from detention.

This medium gathered that trouble started when the pro-Biafran protesters numbering over 400 were intercepted by the security agents along Emenike/Kampala axis and Boro Park in Port Harcourt.

Our correspondent gathered that the Hausas, on seeing the fierce looking nature of the pro-Biafra protesters, had their daggers and knives for self defence, while the police intervened and allegedly shoot sporadically into the air to dispatch all the protesters.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that three persons including a student of Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic, Mr. Obed Eke were allegedly shot dead by a stray bullet during the alleged sporadic shooting.

The Newswriter authoritatively reports that the pro-Biafrans came converged from different parts of the neighbouring states including Bayelsa, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Delta among others and were first intercepted along Eleme junction off Aba Road, as other groups at different places of Port Harcourt including Rumuokoro, Mile 5, 4, 3, 2, and Isaac Boro Park also emerged intermittently.

It was further gathered that, some members of Arewa Consultative Forum, through their chairman, Usman Ibrahim claimed that the pro-Biafra protesters allegedly looted their valuables including money, yam tubers and many others.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Governor, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Francis Adesanye have vowed to deal decisively with the pro-biafran protesters and any group that will disturb the peaceful co-existence. ###
