Blood in recent times ceaselessly flows in Andoni communities as indigenes and residents perpetually live in fears of possible attacks following the continuous killings of young men in a non-warring circumstance.
Last Thursday November 5 two members of the PDP from a community called Isiama in Andoni ward 3 were short dead by yet to be identified gunmen. Another two respectively were killed in Ilotombi community also in ward 3 and Agana community ward 2 was killed by unidentified gunmen within the week.
Going by the way and the manner in which the killings were carried out, indigenes of Andoni who are not disposed to briefing the press, but considered anonymity posited that the serial killings were targeted at the members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Local Government since all the deceased persons were card carrying members of the PDP.
The Newswriter crime correspondents gathered that, Mr. Ete from Ilotomi, Mr. Kpunu-Nkpogak-Nwaji aka peace maker and Mr. David from Isiama and one Mr. Ugbana from Agana were all PDP members in their respective wards.
This publication further gathered that these men were among those alleged forced by the APC thugs to work against their party, PDP, noting that their refusal has sent wrong signals to their further existence by their opponents
It would be recalled that, about September 25, the community of Oyorokoto was over flown with blood of both innocent citizens and criminals resulting from an attack by unknown gunmen.
Worrisome is the fact that Andoni land, once a peaceful land is now enveloped in blood letting activities ranging from sea piracy, thuggery to cult related activities.
Indigenes and residents alike in the LGA who commented on the incident opined that the State Government and LGA should beef up security in the area to stem the activities of hoodlums, noting that should the JTF be posted to strategic areas and flash points, activities of the hoodlums and killers if not erased would be minimized.
The Newswriter crime desk investigation also revealed that Isiama community is a target point as it was allegedly fingered to be harbouring certain hoodlums and criminals following their forceful eviction from other neighbouring communities through use of traditional voodoo powers that signals death to any Obolo son found in the act of killing another.
But, Isiama community is one of such communities where the voodooism was said to either ignored, not welcomed or intentionally not allowed, hence the last week massacre, as some criminals now see that community as their intermittent rest point.
It would be recalled that the APC before the March 28 Presidential /National Assembly and April 11 gubernatorial/States House of Assembly elections in Rivers hadn’t raised several alarms over the death of hoodlums and cultists who were killed via cult related activities but also claimed their membership of the APC.
Sources in the Andoni Local Government Area have been worried over the sudden serial killings of card carrying members of the PDP just after the purported annulment of the election that produced the PDP led government in the state.
Meanwhile, efforts made by The Newswriter to reach CDC chairman of the affected communities for comments met the brick walls. But subsequent reactions from the communities would be related to the public as it comes. ###
