Cocodie Emerges Champion In Keves 3rd Tennis Tournament

The 3rd edition of Keves lawn tennis tournament has come and gone, leaving Fidel Cocodie as the champion of the two weeks lasted tournament.

Sunday Maku claimed the 2nd place trophy with a cash prize of 200 dollars while his brother Kule Maku went home with 100 dollars with the trophy as the third place winner.

The champion, Fidel Cocodie went home with 300 dollars cash prize with his trophy as the champion of the tournament.

It was fun seeing friends, associates associating in an atmosphere of peace and unity with respect.

In his speech, the sponsor, chief Ikenna Okafor said, he will sustain the tournament as long as the economy permits him.

He expressed satisfaction over the conduct of all who participated in the tournament and prayed that the same support given to him should be given in the next edition.

He also used the occasion to appealed to the members of Port Harcourt Club 1928 and the Lawn Tennis section to come together so as to lift the spirit of Port Harcourt club which he said is dying gradually.

Pointing out that if nothing is done to that effect, the Lawn Tennis section will also follow, if the parent main club is dying gradually.

He promised to maintain the legacy set by the Late Tonye Harry if he is contacted to do so by the committee in charge of Late Tonye Harry memorial committee in the Lawn Tennis section.

Meanwhile, the Tonye Harry Tennis Academy produced lads are representing Nigeria as well as part of the Rivers State National Sports festival contingents and are now in camp with team Rivers. ###
