The chairman of Ondo State Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Akintunde Akinsemola has boldly stated that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has achieved more than former governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi in sports.
He made this assertion while giving vote of thanks at the occasion of the full council meeting held in Port Harcourt at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre, Moscow Road.
According to the Ondo Swan boss, Governor Wike has recognized the powerful ability of Sports Writers in Nigeria and had accorded regards as to honour and honour the job they do, thereby fulfilling an earlier promise he made to the state SWAN by giving out a brand new bus in fulfillment of his earlier promise at short notice.
Again, he (Wike) has sponsored four international football matches, to the state with just few days in office.
He also paid the 8 months salaries owed Sharks, Dolphins and Rivers Angels players by the Amaechi administration, with these, he has set the ball of good relationship in sports partnership rolling with both stakeholders of Sports and the sports franity.
“It clearly shows that the governor has set his mind to develop sports in general. With promise to do more if only the sports family could create the enable environment for the governor to fulfill all his promises of sports development in the entire federation and Rivers State in particular. ###
