The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Eleme Local Government Council, Barr. Philip Okaraji said the council will do everything possible to establish a Skills Acquisition Centre that will take care of the youths in the area.
The Council boss stated this at the sideline of the youth election in Eleme LGA under the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Eleme chapter.
He maintained that the council is doing this within the framework of their appointment noting the skill empowerment will have 10 persons per ward that will undergo training in the area.
Barr. Okaraji further explained that the women will have their component of the empowerment scheme after the youths.
On the issue of security in Eleme, the CTC chairman said Ebubu needs a police station to curb the level of insecurity in the area as the son of the Vice Chancellor of University of Port Harcourt was kidnapped at his home town in Ebubu, however the boy has regained his freedom. He told journalist that the council is trying its best to reduce the level of criminality in the area through gainful employment as the council is dialoguing with a lot of companies in the area to also checkmate crime, while requesting the Rivers State Police Command to establish a police post at Ebubu.
He said there are cordial relationship between the council and some companies in the area of corporate social responsibility.
On the youth election, he charged the newly elected executives of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Eleme chapter to carry the youths along in all their dealings and to maintain the existing peace as the Eleme council has done much to improve on the security in the area.
The Council chairman task them to support governor Barr. Nyesom Wike, the senator and the various leaders in the area saying the LGA will not disappoint them.
He told the youths to engage in constructive dialogue on the employment in the area, as it relates to companies and organizations and promised to partner with the youths.
The chairman congratulated the youths on their peaceful election saying the election was transparent devoid of any political interference and use the occasion to state categorically that no council chairman or house of Assembly member has right to appoint youth bodies except the traditional rulers.
In his speech, the representative of the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youth, Mr. Godwin Bere thanked the youths for their peaceful disposition during the election. ###
