The youths of Ogbakiri community in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State have been accused of master minding the frequent kidnapping of persons along the ever busy Emohua/Degema Road.
A frontline youth activist in the Kalabari kingdom, Comrade Ibiso Braide made the accusation while exchanging views with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Monday. Comrade Braide also blamed increasing rate of armed robbery incident along the Emohua/Degema Road on the youths from Ogbakiri community.
Few months ago, a seasoned administrator and the Head of the Local Government Administration in the Asari-Toru Local Government Council, Surv. Dayspring Braide was kidnapped, his driver was shot dead. Three months after his abduction, Surv. Braide whereabout is still unknown. Many belief that he must have being killed by his abductors.
Last Sunday, two clerics from the Our Saviour’s African Church Cathedral, Ven. J.B. Lawson and Ven. Isobo Dokubo were abducted by unknown gunmen along the said road. As at the time of filing in this report the abductors are yet to establish contacts with the families of the pastors or the authorities of the church.
On several occasions yet to be unidentified persons are perpetuating heinous crimes along the road. And also unleashed mayhem on both commercial and private vehicles piling the road at any hour of the day.
Swiftly reacting to the accusation leveled against the youths from Ogbakiri, an opinion leader from the area, Prince Samuel Kwa blamed the Kalabari youths on all the atrocities confronting the frequent users of the Emohua/Degema road.
Prince Kwa pointed out that no one knows the tributaries along the road more than the Kalabari youths.
He revealed that the youths from Ogbakiri have began to mobilize themselves to ensure that they wage war against the perpetuators of the evil acts.
Prince Kwa called on the relevant authorities to beef up security within and around the said vicinity to wave-off kidnappers, robbers, thieves and rapists from the road. ###
