Gov. Wike Welcome Graduates Of Amet University India

The Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike has received Rivers indigenes who have just graduated in Autical Science from Amet University, Chennal, India.
In his welcome speech, the Rivers State Governor congratulated the graduates on successfully completed their B.SC programme while eight out of the fourteen cadets made 1st class Honours.
The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Kenneth Kobani stated that two of the students has immediately secured admission to study for their masters degree and PHD respectively which the government has approved their sponsorship.
He further explained that the Rivers Government has also approved that the other successful graduates will undergo 18 months sea-time training on board of an Ethiopian shipping lines, vessels to upgrade them into obtaining Certificate of Competence (CoC).
Barr. Kobani maintained that the Rivers State government is poised to reactivate the Rivers State fishing to provide practical training and create employments and empowerment opportunities for the youths.
The state governor said they are ready to partner with Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) for the implementation of the cabotage of none Nigeria sea farers in the state.
He stated that government will sponsor commercial maritime divers to remove wrecks in the waterway especially Marine Base as their contributions, they will also reactivate the Diving School at Marine base.
In her remark, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment, Mrs. Comfort Iragunima stated that the students the Rivers State government for training as repositions the state to take their proper place in the marine industry both nationally and intentionally saying the student made the Rivers State proud.
In her response, one of the graduating students, Miss Jumbo Hope from Bonny LGA thanked the Rivers State governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike for all his support while in India.
Miss Jumbo stated the programme was basically to support and improve youth development and empowerment in order to curb youth restiveness in the state, hoping that they will fill the gap in the maritime oil and gas sub-sector of the economy while pleading that the governor should pay more attention to the youths. ###
