The most Rev. Dr. Ignatius Kattey JP, the Dean Emeritus Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Archbishop, Province of NigerDelta and the Lord Bishop Diocese of the Niger Delta North has said the reason for the elevation of some clergies of the Diocese to the rank of Rev. Canons, Archdeacons and Priests was due to their hard work and commitment in God’s vineyard.
Most Rev. Dr. Kattey made the remark shortly after the ordination of some clergies of the Diocese at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Port Harcourt.
Kattey who described the ceremony as successful recalled that some of the clergies who were ordained in various categories of ranks in the Diocese were once sent out by the Diocese to various countries outside Nigeria including Gabon, Ivor’e Coast, Ghana, Italy, Rome and other parts of the world to establish churches and convert souls which they did successfully hence they were elevated and ordained.
Kattey who congratulated the newly ordained Archdeacons, Rev Canons and Priests on their new assignment urged them not to relent in their commitment to God’s vineyard rather should continue in their good work also advised members of the Diocese to support them as to move the Diocese forward.
Commenting on the affair of the Rivers State Government, Archbishop Kattey enjoined Rivers people to support the present government irrespective of party affiliation and tribes to succeed.
In a chat with journalists at the ceremony, Sir Kingdom Nwankwo said he came to celebrate with some of his colleagues who were ordained at the ceremony including Archdeacon Wisdom Budu Ihunwo and Emmanuel Mgbehuruenye.
Sir. Nwankwo who congratulated them in their new position, noted that they were elevated due to their hard work and commitment to the Diocese expressing hope that they will justify the confidence repose on them describing the ceremony as successful.
In a separate chat with journalists shortly after the ceremony some of the ordained Archdeacons and Rev Canons, Amos Sarakwe, Rev. Canon Kana from Cameroon and canon Chris Alozie expressed gratitude to the priest and other members of the Diocese including Most Rev. Dr. Kattey for recognizing them for their labour in God’s vineyard.
According to them, we have been impacted with fresh anointing and oil, we are now senior clergy; we will do more and justify the confidence reposed on us.
The highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of awards of “Educational Developer of Our Time” on Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius Kattey by the National Association of Nigeria Student NANS.
Some of the ordained Canons and Archdeacons includes Archdeacon Saturday Tormaa Mbete, Chinedu Andrew Ejekwe, Rev. Canon Osaro Moses, Charles Okoro, Samuel Ejire amongst other. ###
