Gokana LGA Monarch In Ritual Killings

The paramount ruler of Bomu Community in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief Charles Tenalo has been accused of not keeping his community in peace because he is a member of Degbam secret cult group which is perpetuating major crimes in the community.

A member of the Bomu Council of Chiefs and Elders led by the paramount ruler who pleaded not to have his name mentioned in the print due to security reasons told the investigative team of The Newswrtier newspaper that Charles Tenalo’s membership with Degbam cult group in the community started when his relative Nbelgata Tenalo was contending the paramount stool with him.

The source told The Newswriter that Charles Tenalo collaborated with the leadership of Degbam cult group in the community to help him become the paramount ruler of the community and pledged to support the cultists in all their activities in the community.

The investigation revealed that the paramount ruler of Bomu Community became a suspected member of Degbam cult group by members of the community when the group allegedly killed and went away with the male organs, fingers and tongues of two indigenes of the community. When the entire paramount rulers of Gokana LGA met on the matter and decided to conduct an independent investigation to unravel the killers of the deceased Chief Tenalo, Paramount Ruler of Bomu community said such investigation cannot take place in his community under his watch as the head of the community. He also challenged his counterparts who are also paramount rulers in the LGA that such crime has happened in their communities before and nobody investigated.

The belief of the people that Chief Tenalo is a member of Degbam cult group become so obvious when he dissolved the youth body of the community and reconstituted another youth body who were mainly of Degbam top members. The source further said the group become active supporters of the former lawmaker representing Gokana constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Innocent Barikor so as to enable him actualize his second term bid into the House of Assembly.

Another incident which made the people of the community alleged that the paramount ruler, is a cultist was when one notorious cult member of Degbam used dynamites to dispel aggrieved members of the community who are accusing the paramount ruler of embezzling funds meant for the community, which Shell Petroleum Development Company recently paid as compensation for oil spillage.

Report made available to our team of investigators maintained that after findings have exposed Vinae as being responsible for the shooting of the dynamites, stakeholders of the community including one Kabor advised the paramount ruler of Bomu to either call for the arrest of the real perpetrator of the dynamite blasts or make move for the release of over five vibrate innocent youths that are still under awaiting trial in the Port Harcourt prison custody but the paramount ruler refused to heed to the advice.

The stakeholders also pointed out that the paramount ruler in one of the sittings of the community’s council of chiefs and elders that the former youth leader and gun runner known as Micheal Vidutee Cebara who was arrested and released by men of the police force his still insisting that Vinae of Degbam cult group was responsible for the dynamite blasts which the law of the community prohibits but yet the paramount ruler was still silent over the issue because a Degbam member was involved.

However, when our team of reporter contacted the paramount ruler on the issue, he promised to send his comments through email but never come forth as at press time.
