Blueprint For Rivers State Will Fast

WALSON-JACKThe chairman of the steering Committee for the Development of Blueprint for Rivers State Bar Nimi Walson-Jack said the aim of one day forum is to fast tract Campaign promises of Bar. Nyensom Wike. Bar. Walson-Jack stated this is an interview with journalist shortly after the one day public consultative Forum held over the weekend at the conference Hall, Ministry of Justice Rivers State secretariat, Port Harcourt.

He said the purpose of the programme is to bring out the strategy for implementing the campaign promises the Governor has made and links with existing policies in the state for the purpose of development.

Bar Walson Jack maintained that the Committee was set up by the governor, Bar Nyesom Wike under the office of the secretary to government

The Chairman of the consultative committee explained that because government resources are lean they are targeting strategic projects government will do to stop wastages and focus on priority now that there are scarce resources to eliminate abandon project.

He said the out come of the report will submitted to the government to select areas of necessity for consideration and implementation.

The soft spoken politician explained that this committee is different from other committees set up in the past as this new development will set a new pace in the state saying this is different because the interaction with the people on several sectors shows that the report will be taken seriously by government.

Stakeholders at the conference suggested that there are in adequate medical Doctors and Nurses at most of the general Hospital and Health centres which hamper development in the gate while advising the state government to employ more quality teachers to boost the educational sector.

The Stakeholders further explained that lack of motivation of teachers in the state by government can cause low productivity which will affect the quality of the students

Also speaking, the former Chief medical Director of Rivers State Hospital management Board Dr. Nicholas Iragonima stated that political interference in health matters in state is a challenge in the health institution, the state.

It could be recall that some of areas of discussion include Health, education, Agriculture, Sports and youth Development, jobs, wealth creation and empowerment, while the issue of sanitation was discussed extensively. ###
