One Dickson Udi is now explaining to the court why he stabbed the left eye of a vulcanizer, Aniebok Patrick with a broken bottle in Okujagu community at Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt.
Report from a reliable source has it that Udi had already seized the vulcanizing machine of the victim unlawfully before stabbing him.
Men of the Nigerian Police Force who dragged the suspect before a Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt revealed that it was an intentional act to maim, disfigure or disable Patrick.
A second count charge which was made available to our court correspondent stated that: You Dickson Udi ‘m’ on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid Port Harcourt Magisterial District did unlawfully assaulted one Aniebok Patrick ‘m’ by stabbing him on his left eye with a broken bottle which caused him harm and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 355 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 11 Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.
Meanwhile, the trial magistrate, F.N Amanze had also remanded a 45-years-old man in prison custody for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl at plot 146 zone Finima Street in Port Harcourt.
In a charge number PMC/633c/2015 for the accused Afibiye Bob-Manuel (aka) Fala for having an unlawful carnal knowledge of Awongor Tobin and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 218 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 37, Vol. 11, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.
The trial Magistrate however adjourned case to Nov. 18, 2015 and ordered that case file be sent to Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice. ###
