Tanko Takes Badminton To Navy School

A veteran badminton player from the Nigeria Navy Port Harcourt, Mino Tanko has promised to encourage the game of Badminton by taking the sports to Nigeria Navy Borikiri, Port Harcourt Navy Secondary School.

Tanko who featured alongside Basen in the “veteran double” match on 22nd August on the just concluded professionals and veterans badminton tournament, tagged professionals and veteran Badminton Rivers 2015, spoke exclusively to The Newswriter sports shortly after receiving his prize.

He disclosed that he will make sure he introduced the game of Badminton to Navy secondary School through the instrumentality of the sports officer.

He also pledged to provide five (5) rackets to the school in encouragement of the take off of the game in the school.

The amicable Navy officer ranked the tournament above average and expressed joy in becoming victorious. He also thanked the organizers of the tournament praying them to keep it up.

Speaking further, he commended the Rivers State Government in proving a standard badminton court for the sports, saying Lagos State do not have such a fantastic Badminton Court.

Speaking on the benefits of playing the game, he revealed that someone introduced him to the sport, and since then he had fallen in love the sport, pointing out that playing the game of Badminton made him a much more better person and healthier. “It has given me a social status, whereby I now make new open minded friends, and have created a family circle through the game.

He pleaded with all and sundry to encourage the game of Badminton, saying that individuals, corporate organizations and veterans of the game, who had benefited from playing the game could also join forces with the Rivers State Badminton Association to organize tournament regularly to create awareness, in that way making the game popular.

The secretary of Rivers State badminton Association Beauty Boms Edition was on hand to present prizes to winners of the tournament. ###
