Rivers APC: Amaechi, Counsels Dump Candidates In Tribunal

amaechiSome candidates who contested the last general election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State are now running helter-skelter due to non-availability of funds to pursue their electoral matters before the election petitions tribunal sitting in Abuja to logical conclusion.
Our political correspondent gathered that some counsels standing for the APC candidates in the on-going tribunal have abandoned their clients as a result of non-payment of their legal charges or fees.
This publication had it authoritatively that the lawyers’ charges or fees are very high, thus went beyond the ceiling.
Many APC candidates, especially those who contested the State Assembly seat are in the state of dilemma in terms of sourcing funds to carrying on their cases in the tribunal.
Information had it that so many cases filed by the APC candidates before the tribunal had been struck out following non appearance of their counsels.
Impeccable sources further hinted this weekly that, the APC candidates who went to ex-Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to solicit for financial support went home with sadness and disgrace.
We learnt that the former Governor had told them that he has no fund to support their cases in the tribunal; hence they should seek for funds to settle their lawyers elsewhere.
Sequel to this development so many of the candidates are considering to withdraw their cases in the tribunal because of lack of finance. If this happens it will be the collapse or the end of APC in Rivers State.
