The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Emohua Local Government Council, Mr. Bright Ikonwa has charged the traditional rulers and youths in Rumuoji Community to embrace peace for better development in the area.
Mr. Ikonwa stated this during a stakeholders meeting held at the Council Secretariat recently following the crisis between a faction of youth and Ohan Council of Chiefs over supremacy in the area.
The Chairman called on the youths to shun violence and be ambassadors of peace.
He described peace as the bedrock of development in any society, adding that any Community without peace would not move forward.
The Chairman stressed that projects had to be executed by human beings under a peaceful and secured atmosphere, explaining that any threat to peace by any community would deny such community of government developmental projects.
Mr. Ikonwa maintained that everything in this world including land, political power and money are transient and not worth destroying life for.
Responding on behalf of the Ohan Council of Chiefs, the Onu-Nokun Nuwa I of Rumuoji Community Eze Obed Ekweme explained the events that led to the crisis and thanked the Chairman for intervening in the matter.
