Kidnap Saga: IAUE Fires Prof. Osahogulu

Worried by the scandalous publications in the media credited to Prof. Joshua Dele Osahogulu the director ICT centre of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education against Prof. Rosemond Green Osahogulu, the embattled Vice Chancellor of the University that her kidnapped on 18th June 2015 was faked by her and the Bursar of the institution, the management of the IAUE has placed Prof Joshua Dele Osahogulu on three months suspension.

The Head of Public Relations Unit of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education made the disclosure during a press briefing shortly after the management of the university meeting held at the St. John Campus of the institution in Port Harcourt City LGA.

The Head of the Public Relations Unit who spoke on behalf of the management of the university recalled a publication in the National Network Newspaper of 22nd -28th July, 2015 credited to Prof. Joshua Dele Osahogulu, the Director ICT Centre of the institution, that, the kidnap of the Vice Chancellor on 18th June 2015 was faked by the Vice Chancellor and the Bursar of the University, “millions of naira may have been fleet away,” from the university’s coffers by the Vice Chancellor and the Bursar as ransom that the Vice Chancellor had jetted out of the country to Canada on honeymoon with the university Bursar.”

Embarrassed by the contents of the publication, the management queried Prof. Osahogulu. He replied the query, denied the said statements and disowned the newspaper or making such statements even on telephone to any correspondent of National Network Newspaper.

Sequel to the reply, management invited Prof. Osahogulu to a meeting conveyed for that purpose, at the meeting Prof. Osahogulu while filing questions from members of the management, substantially admitted the contents of the said publication but attributed it to his   state of mind at the time, pointing out that the management, found the conduct of Prof. Osahogulu scandalous, disgraceful and prejudicial to the integrity of the office of the Vice Chancellor and the reputation of the university and placed him on the three months suspension.

For clarity and emphasis, she noted that kidnap of the Vice Chancellor was a public spectacle along Okocha Road Rumuolumeni, Obio/Akpor LGA, pointing out that the facts and evidence of the abduction are with the security agencies which are still investigating the matter, the oversea medical trip of the Vice Chancellor are before the visitor of the university, the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and the management of the university, the university did not pay and was not party to the payment of any ransom for the release of the Vice-Chancellor, if there was any at all.

The management warned politicians who want to invent crisis in this transition period of the university to desist from such act.

According to the management, the university will not fail in its sacred duty to maintain its status as a centre for character and learning and will therefore spare no effort in ensuring that all those who fall short of its code of conduct and standard behavioural norms are brought to book in the consonance with the institutions laws, rules and regulations.   ###
