Abandoned Unity Road, To Be Completed Soon – Wike

nyesom-WikeThe all important Ogoni, Andoni, Opobo/Nkoro road generally christened “Unity Road” has been revisited and would be completed as soon as funds are available to enhance the people of the affected areas especially the people of Andoni driving to Ngo town, Headquarters of the Local Government Area.

Rivers State Governor, His Excellency Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, gave the assurance of completing the abandoned and cancelled road project last Friday at Asarama/Ebukuma bridge head in a function to mark an inspection tour of the road.

The State Governor who noted that the project was awarded in 2005 said the immediate past administration irrespective of the huge resources available in the state abandoned the road.

“We thought that with the resources we had the last administration ought to have completed this project but unfortunately it was abandoned, the governor observed.

“We have come to let you know that go to your houses and sleep, with your two eyes closed, that whatever it is, whatever we can do, wherever the money is, we will go and look for it to make sure this project is completed, so that you can drive from Port Harcourt to Ngo town and Ngo to Port Harcourt”.

His Excellency, Barr. Wike used the occasion to once again thanked the people of Andoni for the votes they gave for the PDP during the last elections, pledging that they will not disappoint the people, adding that with God on their side all the electioneering campaign promises would be fulfilled and enjoined the people to assist the contractor when they return to site to enable the project completion within a short time, while appealing for patience on the part of the people.

Reacting on behalf of the people of Andoni, Chief Dr. Silas Eneyo eulogized the governor’s integrity describing him as a man of his words, who returned to the project site as a fulfillment of his electioneering promises to reassure the people of driving on the 38 kilometer road to Andoni headquarters.

The spokes person for the Andoni nation while using the occasion to appreciate the former governor, Sir. Dr. Peter Odili for accepting the conceptions of Prince Uche Secondus and awarded the road, also thanked Prince Uche Secondus for the idea and reiterated the support of Andoni people for the Barr. Wike led administration in the state.

Earlier, the governor had rode on a convoy to inspect the road from the Inyon-Oron junction through the interceptions of Ngo and Ikuru town axis of the abandoned road. ###
