The Niger Delta Peoples Collation (NDPC), an umbrella body of youths in the region has lauded the Rivers State government under Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for giving free hand to Rt. Hon. Ikuniyi-Owaji Ibani to pilot the affairs of the Rivers Assembly.
This was contained in a letter the group sent to Governor Wike, it stated that the review of the Chieftaincy Law of 2014 is the best thing that has happened to the people of Rivers State.
The letter which was signed by the president of NDPC, Chief Comrade Sepiribo C. T. Briggs said that allowing one 1st class stool in each of the 23 LGAs will positively revolutionalize the chieftaincy institution in the state.
He expressed hope that replacing the obnoxious chieftaincy law of 2014 will fast track peace, development and equity in the 23 LGAs in the state.
The letter reads in part: “We urge you to ignore the distractive utterances of those who may oppose to this laudable and ingenious law as we know they are doing so for selfish reason and not in overall interest of their local government areas.”
Chief Comrade Briggs felicitated with Governor Wike for his electoral victory in the April gubernatorial election in the state. he further commended the governor for his developmental strides especially the operation zero potholes
Chief Comrade Briggs pleaded with the Governor to sign the new chieftaincy law and also make necessary and relevant proclamation and recognize the relevant traditional rulers affected.
He gave kudos to HRH King Disrael Gbobo Bobmanuel, Amanyanabo of Abonnema for his peaceful disposition. Briggs said that the monarch has attracted much development to Abonnema Community.###
