The emergence of Ayo Tamuno as the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Rivers State Council has excited Rev. (Dr.) Sokari Soberekon as he congratulates him, saying, he has confidence in Ayo Tamuno as a man who will take the pen profession, to a greater height. According to the elderstateman, Ayo Tamuno has all what it takes to bring development and the much desired change to the Union, pointing out that Ayo Tamuno as a Youth was practical youth leader of the Royal Ambassador of 1st Baptist Church in the old good days. The man of God, the agitator and Establisher of Oil Derivation Formula in 1981 said, the emergence of Ayo Tamuno as Chairman of NUJ Rivers State Council, confirms that “the young must grow and not shall grow”. The icon reveals that former Governor Amaechi was 16-years-old when he agitated and established oil derivation formula in 1981, in the same old Rivers State that he fought for. And Amaechi later became the governor of the State. The Social crusader, the only roving parliamentarian one of the founding fathers alive in Rivers State, and one time Sole Administrator of old Port Harcourt City Council, stressed that, the young ones must one day grow up to attain what their leaders attained in position, adding that Alhaji Shehu Shagari, King Alfred Diete-Spiff, Late Senator Melford Obene Okilo were testimonies to this saying, the young must grow some day. “I also use this opportunity to thank those who voted for Ayo Tamuno as Chairman of NUJ, Rivers State Council and those who voted for Governor Wike as governor of Rivers State as wisemen to move the state forward”, Soberekon said.
