Wike Challenge Sharks, Dolphins To Perform

wike phoneThe executive governor of Rivers State, Chief Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has challenged the three teams sponsored by Rivers State, to perform in the Nigeria Professional Football League as he paid their back log of 8 months salaries in a roll.

The gesture has started yielding it dividend as both Dolphins and Sharks picked point each in their encounter after the governor’s payment of the players salaries.

Dolphins showed it appropriation to the governor by daring Kano pillars by picking a point at her ground, in Kano where ordinarily, it is not possible to pick a point in Kano in submission, dolphins have shown appreciation by dedicating that result to the governor of the state. Same Sharks picked a point at home.

Both teams are sitting at the bottom of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Speaking to Sports journalists, Dolphins Manager, Stanley Eguma disclosed that the governor’s paying the players their eight months half salaries motivated them to increase their performance.

The immediate past administration of Amaechi neglected the players in paying them their salary which had affected the players’ performance. Dolphins have however, promised the governor to up their game to swim out of relegation zone in the league.

Sharks on their part, have a challenge of overhauling the entire team, including the technical crew, if the must escape relegation this season.

Many followers of Sharks have opined that Sharks should shop for a quality manger and players in the window period, to change their current status in the league.

Meanwhile, the state government under the able leadership of Wike has pledge to support the three Rivers State sponsored teams. Sharks, Dolphins and Rivers Angels.

Rivers Angels is the only female football team representing the state, and had lots of trophies to it kitty. ###
