Rivers To Make Stronger Anti-kidnapping Law

wwwwikRivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, says his administration is proposing amendment to the state’s anti-kidnapping law to ensure that the state government demolish or seize the property of kidnappers.

He disclosed that the bill would be sent to the State House of Assembly for tinkering soon. The governor said that under his watch, no kidnapper or sponsors of kidnapping would benefit from the proceeds of the crime.

Speaking during a special thanksgiving service at the Royal House of Grace in Port Harcourt recently, said: “Under our watch, no kidnapper or their sponsors will enjoy the benefits of the crime. The Attorney General of the state has brought the bill and it will soon be sent to the Rivers State House of Assembly”.

The governor added that his administration would take firm action against cultism, stating that security agencies will be empowered to arrest cultists and rid the state of crime.

He said kidnapping and cultism had brought negative publicity to the state; pointing out that this was the time to decisively deal with insecurity in the state.

Wike pledged to do everything possible to make Rivers people live in comfort and enjoy the benefits of good governance.

He said that this is not the era of complaints, but a time to rebuild Rivers State and make the state work for the people.

“This is not a period of complaints, but an era of solving problems. This is period for the solving of problems and making sure that the economy of the state works for all the people who live in it,” Wike charged.

Earlier, the Zonal Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, Apostle Zilly Aggrey; urged the governor to take measures to improve the living conditions of the ordinary people of the state.
