One time sole administrator of Port Harcourt City Local Government Council, Rev. (Dr.) Sokari Soberekon has instructed the two main political parties in Rivers State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to fly their flags only on their secretariats.
The former boss of the Phalga council, observed this because of the incessant display of the duo party flags all over the city of Port Harcourt.
Giving as his reason he said, the action makes the city of Port Harcourt shabby and dirty, stressing that even after the elections the flags are still flying in the city of Port Harcourt.
He noted that, no party has the right to display it party flags after the election, urging all the parties involved to remove them.
He frowns at APC in particular for flooding Port Harcourt City Local Government council with its flag during the period of the election, pointing out that that action means intimidation and monopoly of the council.
According to him, that action is a demonstration of intimidation towards other political parties.
He stated that political election is a contest of numbers where the winners claim ownership of he council, saying that it is wrong for the All Progressives Congress monopolizing the Phalga council by flying its flags all over the council through out the election period.
The agitator and establisher of Oil Derivation who is also the roving parliamentarian said it wrong for a party for one political party in the state to claim a council when election is on. ###
