A quiet storm may be building gradually between President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari and governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the incoming president has asked the governors to stay away from the process leading to the appointment of his ministers.
According to the report, the General may be mulling a return to the style adopted in the second republic by the defunct National Party of Nigeria, NPN, when appointment of ministers were handled by the national secretariat of the party.
A source at the National Headquarters of the APC, according to report, disclosed that Buhari had asked the APC leadership to convey the non-interference directive to the governors.
The source said the President-elect does not understand why the governors will choose ministers for him after appointing their own commissioners without interference from the President-elect.
It is also believed that a ministerial list had been submitted by the governors but was rejected.
The report also quoted the source as saying the President-elect is not happy with the governors because of failure to pay workers’ salaries after collecting their allocation from the federal government.###
