Resource Control: Ex-Militants Spit Fire … Warn Buhari

Few days to the exit of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the demand for resource control and self-determination by the people of Niger Delta sub-region have regained momentum. Ex-agitators under the auspices of Niger Delta People Revolutionary Force (NDPRF) threatened fire and brimstone to cause instability in General Muhammadu Buhari’s administration if the Niger Delta people will not be allowed to control their resources.

The leader of the group, Chief Stanley Tyger Amachree made this known at a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Monday. He said that the Niger Delta will no longer sit down and watch at strangers coming to the region and cart away their resources to enrich themselves.

Chief Tyger Amachree further threatened that, his group will cause serious confusion, if strangers continue to feast on the resources belonging to the region.

The leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Revolutionary Force (NDPRF) maintained that by any means necessary the region’s resources must be controlled by its citizens. He warned that if Buhari refuses to allow the people of Niger Delta to control their God given resources, blood will flow. His words, “We will spill our last drop of blood in our bodies”, Chief Tyger Amachree said.

He sounded it loud and clear that without resources control, Buhari cannot rule peacefully. However, Chief Tyger Amachree pleaded with Buhari to avoid the out-going Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi like someone who is suffering from leprosy, describing him as a devil incarnate”. “Amaechi will put you into problem if you listen to him,” Chief Tyger Amachree said. He blasted the outgoing governor for what he calls inability to pay workers salaries and high rate of insecurity in the state.

Chief Tyger Amachree begged the incoming administration under the leadership of Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike to initate policies and programmes that will put smiles on the faces of the Rivers people. He advised that Wike should remember the Kalabari ethnic nationality by constructing the Trans-Kalabari link road.

He had earlier warned Buhari not to scrap the amnesty programme and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to avoid crisis in the region, pointing out that any attempt to collapse the two structures, Buahri will run the administration of the country with zero allocation.

On his group’s face-off with the leader of the Niger Delta People Volunteer Force, NDPVF, Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, Chief Tyger Amachree revealed that the problem has been resolved, “because we are brothers and therefore we cannot afford to fight ourselves”. ###
