Ques: How do you see the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State?
Ans: I did not doubt in my mind one day that PDP will not succeed in Rivers State. The leaders who are controlling the affairs of the party are credible and astute politicians, especially the leader of the party in the state, His Excellency, Chief Barr Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, the Governor-Elect. With him PDP is stronger than the All Progressives Congress, APC, no matter what is on ground. PDP is stronger and has better spread. When we started this fight under Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI), as a National Assistant Secretary of the group, I believe strongly that our party (PDP) will definitely form the government. And here we are.
Ques: Do you see any prospect for Rivers peoples under Wike’s administration?
Ans: I have absolute confidence on Wike’s administration. It will bring the needed development in the state. The reason why supported Wike from the beginning is that he has all what it takes to transform the state in terms of economic growth and community development.
What I will advice Rivers people to do is to exercise patience, because there are so many cracks in the economy of the state, as a result of the maladministration of the outgoing government. Workers have not been paid. Projects and development stalled due to non-availability of finance. Public funds have been siphoned into private and personal bank accounts. But I am optimistic that with the coming of Wike in May 29, 2015 things will turn around for better.
Ques: What advice do you have for members of other political parties in the state?
Ans: They should support His Excellency Chief Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike. His victory is for true democracy.
And for him to bring massive development into the state, they should back him, because there is no point creating political crisis, animosity and hostility.
This is not the best time in the development of the state to engage in aggressive political war. It is time to give all necessary support the in-coming governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Chief Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, so that the state will begin to enjoy the dividends of true representative government. ###
