Amaechi’s Last Minute and Mono Rail Project

A society without a government is bound to face development crisis.

Hence, the importance of government in the development of any given society cannot be over emphasized.

Thus government beside protection of life and property as its basic statutory obligation, it also initiate programmes and policies that will put smiles on the faces of the masses.

In the past eight (8) years, Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State is trying to develop every part of the state. His administration works timelessly to attract the dividends of democracy.

Amaechi’s administration policy thrust focuses on road construction, resuscitation of the health sector, rehabilitation of schools amongst others.

In as much Governor Amaechi embarks on some development projects, without giving proper attention to workers’ welfare, we are sad with the construction of the on-going mono rail project.

Let us state here categorically that the multi-billion naira mono rail is a white elephant project that cannot generate money for the state government.

Amaechi is leaving office next week, and it surprises us that after five (5) years of its construction, the monorail is yet to complete.

One may be forced to ask: who Amaechi is leaving the mono rail project to complete? From all indications the incoming administration cannot incur such “money sucking” colossal project. Amaechi should apologize to Rivers people for embarking on such project because it has nothing to offer to the people of the state. ###
