An elder statesman of Niger Delta region, Rev. (Dr.) Sokari Soberekon has eulogized the outgoing first lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan on her contribution in creating political awareness among the women fold in Nigeria.
Rev. Soberekon who was the first professional Wrestler and Weight Lifter, a roving parliamentarian and agitator, establisher of Oil derivation said, Mama Peace as the first lady is fondly called is a blessing to the Nigerian women.
According to the elder statesman, she was the first Nigerian First Lady to join her husband in public campaign a feat no other Nigerian first lady has done such, alone saying that she also influenced the recognition of the importance of women in Nigeria politics hence the famous 35% affirmative.
The clergy maintained that she resurrected the minds of the Nigerian women to take their pride of place in Nigerian politics.
According to him, when he sees Dame Patience Jonathan performing he remembers Mama Awolowo. He likened her to late Miriam Babangida of blessed memory.
The outspoken equity and justice fighter of our time, Rev. (Dr.) Sokari Soberekon, also said Dame Patience Jonathan, powerful nature came to play in her producing the first ever female deputy governor of Rivers State in the person of Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo.
Speaking further Soberekon, in his preaching that women should respect their husbands more than their pastors and said to his female children to respect their. husbands more than their father. Husband should love their wives more than money. Mama Peace, demonstrated that to the women in Nigeria, Soberekon described her as a great woman of substance He also commended the effort of the wife of the President elect Mrs. Buhari for being the first Northern Woman to stand on stage campaigning for her husband because of mama Peace disposition
He also commended Mama Peace for loving Jesus Christ adding that Peace is not sold from the market urging Nigerians to love peace through Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace.
Dr. Soberekon said he is not a card carrying member of any political party but stressing that he is for Jesus Christ who has been keeping him all these years. ###
